housesitting allows
me access into their lives
and perhaps i'll learn

what's in their house that
they are in love and stay there?
they are organized

their homes are so neat.
everything in its place. there
chaos is controlled.

some have pictures and
some have pets. some have extensive
art and some TV.

there are those who get
magazines and catalogs
in their mailboxes.

i search for a love
scent in their houses. is it
lemon? cinnamon?

so far i have not
found they share a scent at all.
where is their magic?

i seek whatever
they found. i want to bathe and
perfume myself so.

i stay in their homes
so i learn the secret of
love. but it's not here.
